works cos there's only so many numbers you can get from doing the subtracting the number from the original number malarky.
And all of those numbers have the same symbol each time.
Check out the answer from your first go and you'll find it has the same symbol as the answer to your second and third goes...

Explanation 1. The Maths always gives you a multiple of nine. The symbol that appears is repeated for 9, 18, 27 etc.
