    Big Mileage Days

Reading the topic on the Stella Trip, i was wondering what is your longest day in the saddle ?(mileage wise)

I've done a lot of three and four hundred odd mile days over the years, but my highest mileage in a day to date is 550 miles, that was on a RD04, two up with camping gear leaving Le Havre and heading Sud.

    What's yours ?

700 miles on a VFR750, in France, in the sun, going home, fan-bleedin'-tastic!

600 miles on the AT, fog, cold, visiting my Dad the loooooooooong way, again fan-bloomin'-tastic!

I love long days in the saddle when the journey, not the arrival's, the thing.

    Cheers
    -Simon

1400 odd kms (almost 900 miles) on AT from Roscoff in France to near Cologne in Germany. Another 1400 odd in Ireland in 22 hours. Both with the RD07 standard saddle

I did Copenhagen to Cuxhaven missed my ferry, and continued onto London. That was on a Harley Sportster. Twenty four hours and a thousand miles give or take. having to stop every 90 miles to fill tank. The bike was fuly loaded with gear as i had been riding for five weeks through northern europe, Russia and baltic states I love riding at night, and this particular journey will be one of my all time favorites.

On the AT, solo fully loaded, I rode from Katawice(sth of Poland) after dropping my girlfriend off at her home there, to London 960 miles approx twenty four hours, and that was on an unmodified AT seat The lovely german border guard at the Polish/German border made me unload my carefully packed bike at one in the morning, to see if i was smuggeling ciggies, bless him. I hope they lose the firkin world cup, ffs how many ciggies could i be carrying on the bike. Whilst he was inspecting my sweaty grundies and socks i bet all the cars and vans drivng past me were stacked to the gunnels with contraband

Most uncomfortable ride fourteen hours on the saddle, I think it was about 500/600 miles on a Kwacker 636 Ninja from somewhere in Spain to another point in Spain.

I just cannot believe how hard the Africa Twin boys actually are. How many of you are fully serving members of the SAS ? come on dont be coy. These are some massive miles and many on the Africa Twin STANDARD SADDLE that is beyond hard. really a case of "He who dares" serious hard men and big guys as well. I will be calling you all "Sir" when we meet up.

I did 720 miles in one day on a TRiumph TRophy 1200, i was a comlete knackered mess

Well they begged me to join but I said I was a concientious objector. I was concientiously objecting to being seen driving a pink landrover.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
