    Doing it on your own

Sat on the edge of Salisbury Plain like I am, and after a great first time off-road last weekend, I'm chomping at the bit to get off-road as much as I can.

But how sensible is it to go on your own? Sure, it's not the depths of Africa, and I know I can pick the bike up, but it's the unforseen that worries me. Mangling myself and or the bike in the middle of nowhere would not be good.

So.. am I being over cautious?

    Cie,
I rode across the Plain on the way back from Devon the other week without any trouble, sticking mostly but not exclusively to the wide gravel roadsand had a lovely time. If you know your limits you'll be fine.

However...after fitting tyres and front discs last week I went out for a ride to make sure everything was OK up in deepest darkest Hertfordshire and dropped the bike in a ford that I've crossed loads of times trapping my foot under a crashbar. If two guys hadn't been crossing the ford at the time I could still be there!!

Know your limits, Cie, and I'm sure you'll be fine. Just keep your 'phone within easy reach!!

    Have a great time!!

My arrange it then. I could head out in the afternoon one day and stay the night at my parents, rather than drive all the way home. Let me look in my diary.

I'm down there quite a bit.... but will have the top box on.
I was down there today finished at 16:30 and was tempted to try the lane you missed out on that Tony showed us.
Chickened out for the same reasons that what if I came off and got pinned under the bike.
I think generally its sensible to have someone with you though.

ffs, tell me! The top box can be left at my house whilst we have fun, £1.50 jet wash round the corner, brews etc.

Just let me know if and when
