    Varadero...

Looking at this months TBM, there's a little teeny piece on the Valadoonican. Hodna have chopped a bag of sand off the price of the ABS model and are releasing a run (just 60 bikes) of non ABS bikes (with that awfull RWB paintjob) for another £500 less. That's £6499

Do you think this is the end of the Vara, and perhaps...be still my beating heart..the beginning of a new Twinkie?

Strikes me that this is what car manufacturers do when a new model is waiting in the wings.

Just a thought, take it away boys and girls

    Cheers
    -Simon

With the dualsport craze that's grabbed the world the last two years think Honda has just realised they got out of the big traillie market to soon with a year or two stopping production on the AT. They would of had to make a few simple mods like 100cc extra and sporty front end suspension.

I think Ewan and Charlie had a massive impact on the DS market and the motorcycle manufacturers was a bit slow to catch up with BMW good marketing strategy.

At least know that I will get I paid for my Africa Twin if I have to sell it one day as they are now becoming even more collectable

The sales figures for this month are interesting too, R1200GS 719 sales, the R1200GS ADV sold 278 bikes and the two V-Stroms are at 221 for the 650 and 174 for the 1000.

Ignoring the XL125 that's in the "adventure sport" category for some reason that's a total of 1392 bikes sold in this market last month.

I should think Honda could easily grab a share of this with the right product, but that's flogging a dead horse*. Again!

    *Beating flogging not selling flogging!

And how many of these was trade-ins and repeat business, they are making an absolute fortune not mentioning the Savanah suits, underwear, socks, keyrings and boots they flog(as in sell not the beat the customers) with the bike as well.

I have to confess to being in a Honda dealers at the weekend looking seriously at a Varadero.
As you say the prices are now £6999 and the dealer reckoned they were shifting stock ready for a bigger TA or something.
He also said that he wished Honda still did the AT as he could have sold hundreds and hundreds. He felt that Honda were mental not to have carried on with it.
