    Sheepskin Seat Cover

Has anyone fitted one of these to a seat?

If so how have you attached it.

I've found Sheepskin's I can get, but need to work out a way of attaching them to my seat so they don't fall off or anything. The method will preferably be easy to add/remove so I can take it off when I leave the bike.

Don't have one myself (yet) but a couple of friends do.
The easiest way appears to be to make a loop or something that slides over the pointy bit of seat up against the tank, and some straps on the sides wherever they're handy relative to bits of frame on the bike to hook something behind.

(Note: The one in front is a "Ludde" from Ikea that has done 27000 km through Africa, the one behind that is a more traditional sheepskin that's been to the north cape and back. Both owners are very positive about the way the sheep improve stock seats)

I used a piece of 1cm wide elastic, attached to each side of the sheepskin, which loops under the seat and holds it in place. You need to take the seat off to fit it.

These are the kinds of things I'm looking at.

I was wondering about either a strap under the seat or velcroing it to the underside of the seat.

I will look at how easy this would be to do.

    Anyone else got ideas?

Yeah do try one out on a trip before spending to much cash. I did not get on with it at all where my missus was quite happy with it again. Eventually gave it away to a chap sitting in the sun at a petrol station on a tin in South-Africa.

So far the only seats I have found comfortable for myself was either the Touratech and the Corbin seats.

I made one with elastic hooks on the sides to clip onto the seat. Problem was when I stood up to rearrange myself (chaps on the forum will understand ) at any kind of speed, the damn thing would blow over onto itself at the front
Did consider a bit of carpet tape at the front, but was talking to some guy the other week, who suggested padded cycling shorts instead. He said he used to have a sheepskin, but since trying the cycle shorts, prefers them, so I'll give that a go when I set off for the thumperclub annual rally next week.

+1 for the padded cycling shorts

the only downer is that it slows down getting to the old chap for urination - so plan in advance!

And I've just bought a brand new Touratech seat, and promptly sent it back as it was worse than the original!!! Absolutely bloody rock hard and I had a completely numbe arse after just 10 miles.
I've ordered the air hawk seat pads from Busters, so we'll see what they're like.

I'd be interested in one, if you could post the details here.

Hi, get a sheepskin cushion cover from IKEA (£12) slice open opposite end from zip and slide over the seat; works well and stays put.

    The difference is amazing.
