    Kawasaki super-trailie-street-moto-thing

Kawasaki jump on the dual sport bandwagon, slotting their (apparently quite good...) 600 twin into a road bike with a bit of extra suspension travel, highish 'bars, pretend bash plate, and, erm, nothing that really makes it into a trailie at all

Maybe I'm a bit warped, but I actually rather like the look of it
    As a road bike, naturally.
flat out on utterly inappropriate tackle

Why not, if you want a cheap and practical road bike and don't actually need to go off road?

My AT is a great ride-to-work bike, basically because it's got a good riding position with great visibility for town, it's manouverable with the wide bars, it's relaxing to ride when I'm tired, the style suits stuff like luggage that can look naff on a sports bike, and the suspension soaks up the sh*te road surfaces safely. All those things are probably true of the Kawasaki.

The AT also has character, presence, reasonable ability on long runs, and can go off road (a bit). Things which aren't true of the Kawasaki. Though if it has a comfy seat it may be as good at touring as an AT!

So unless "image" and off roading are important, why not get the Kawasaki?
Especially if the wife points at the scabby 7 year old fiesta she has to drive to work, and only lets you have one of these things or an ER5

Sorry, it must be me, but the Kwak IS all "image".

Just look at it, trying to be all sorts of things. Is it a road bike? Supermoto? Trailie? I haven't got a clue, but Kawasaki have bolted on enough flashy bits and plasticy things to make anyone think it was anything they wanted it to be.

I know I'm confirming my grumpy old man status, but its all too flash for me. Oh and it's got one too many cylinders

I like the look of bits of it, but its really a no go - too much like a newer pegasso - and I dont see many of those around.

As a town only bike it'd be ok but thats it.

I'd rather have this than an Er5 if they were my only options.

I think secretly were all just waiting for the big H to bring out something special for us - could be a long wait

    Hang on a minute.

Surely it's a TeDiuM Yamamamaha for the new century!

They are/were enormously popular over in mainland Europe and I can understand why Kawasaki would produce this kind of bike.

However, it's not and nor was the Yammy a serious adventure bike. It's a comfortable, long legged tourer that saves you having to buy a BMW (Chad!) RT or one of the Japanese versions - FJ, Pan, ZZR or whatever.

    Just my tuppence.

It looks very much like a half faired version of the ER6f.
