They are wearing shirts and ties

If I'm not mistaken that's an old Excelsior sidehack, and you should see that thing go around a corner really the front wheel is there as a suggestion only.

A few years ago they had a grand prix 2stroke sidecar on that track. It had way too much power for the short track, so every corner it was blip and then it came out of the corner completely sideways.

    The sound was bloody marvellous!

They had that MV fourpot go round all by itself for a few laps, and man that thing HOWLS.

    Some more pics:

    They do this every year...

We usually make a weekend out of it, on saturday the classic races and on sunday it's time for something completely different:

    The Black Cross.

Started out as an illegal (hence the "black") motocross, now it's turned into a 3 day cross-festival-event with lots of music and lots of madness.

The point is not to be the fastest, but to be the most entertaining. So even in the supercross (which usually has a bunch of current world class riders) you'll see riders dressed like elvis, for example.

Or, as the case may be: Superman.

But that's nothing compared to the special classes. Those are best explained by this:

Then there's the demos. The Dutch Paris-Dakar guys came over for some fun:

And last year these guys showed up as well:

(Can't seem to find the picture where they have a caravan speared on that barrel...)

    Well, erh...

(The sign on that last one says "Balkenende": Our prime minister...)

78.000 people in 3 days, this year...

Fantastic, I love those Dakar trucks but I think you probably need to be sectioned before the team owmers will even consider interviewing you, they are loooooonies!!

Looks like a great weekend, if you could let us know where and when maybe some of us could make it next year??

    Cheers

    Black cross info

They have just the one page in english, and the location link doesn't work, so here's my attempt: link

Next year it'll be july 27-29, in Lichtenvoorde, Netherlands.

Can't seem to find a link for the classic races, but they'll probably be held on july 28 in Barneveld.
