    The TKC80 mystery

Ok, a few of us have had delays getting hold of our favourite tyres lately (TKC80's). After ordering 6 from Busters who are normally very reliable I ended up waiting 4 weeks for the whole order to arrive.

The 130/80x17 rear came straight away followed by the 90/90x21 fronts two weeks later and finally 3 of 140/80x17 rears two weeks after that.

After closer inspection I have discovered that the fronts and the 140 rears are marked as ' made in Korea ' where as the 130 rear is the normal 'made in Germany '.

It's a lot further from Korea than Germany so perhaps that's explains the delays, also it will be interesting to see if the Korean made tyres are up to the standard of the previous German made ones.

Over to you Barftone as you are about to fit the set I got you.........

I was worried about this, but my previous sets of TKC's were also made in Korea. Just to let you know, they are just as good as I've had the panniers down and have rubber burrs up the side of the tyre...

Replaced my front TKC on Friday night after 13500 miles of usage

    The new TKC

    The Old TKC side view

The old TKC top side view, notice the weird wear pattern that runs to the back of the tyre on the middle blocks

Well for £46 delivered I can't see me changing to another front tyre that can do the same in terms of handling, wear rate and performance.

Something I forgot to add is we took the tyres of Faantjies wheels as well and breaking the rear bead on the Transalp rims was an absolute pleasure!! The front tyre you can push off the bead and the rear we just stepped on both sides and it popped off. If only the Africa Twin was that easy to do
