    Checking a bike for Finance

Hey All. Just joined this morning, and have managed to see the best part of 6 hours pass by... hours well spent I may add.
I bought a 1987 Honda Shadow about 6 years ago, and although I'm only a fair weather rider, I've decided I WANT an AT. (Presuaded by a friend who has one) I live in Ireland, and have come across a very tidy AT for sale in the UK. How would I go about checking this bike out for Finance?
Any advice would be really appreciated.

Not sure what you mean, you can check it out for outstanding finance or for dodgy insurance write-off, etc, not sure how this works in the Emerald Isle, if it's on ebay they usually offer this service, or ask your insurance company they should advise.
And what do you mean only a fair weather rider, we're the best sort (enough sense to know when to get the car out of the garage)

hi Dilbert. thats for answering... just wondering how I would go about checking a bike to see if there was Hire purchase on it... don't want to end up buying a bike to find some guy owes a couple of grand on it.

There is a place in Ireland that will check to see if there's any outstanding money owed on it, if it was ever in a crash, and sometimes the recorded mileage... all for just €10, and if later on it is proven that the information was incorrect, they are liable....SECURITY

there are several of these companies, including HPI and of course the AA (RAC?).
    They should all check :-
    a) Has the car been stolen and does the seller have title to the vehicle.
    b) Has it been an insurance write off or subject to an outstanding claim, or had a substantial claim for repair.
    c) Is there any outstanding finance on it (Loan, HP, etc) or has it been used as security for finance.
Make sure you check for all three and 10 euro sounds like a bargain, for a car in England this can be up to £40-50

The on-line company I used to do this was ..... https://www.mycarcheck.com/

It works for bikes as well and is only £9.95 much cheaper than the MCN or AA / RAC rip offs for the same service.
