    Gearbox ?

Got a problem , my AT is playing up.
Not sure if it is clutch or gearbox? Missed gears , has even jumped out of gear or maybe just not gone in right first time. then works fine then does it again later.
The clutch only works on the last 10 / 15 mm of lever movement, and if it was the clutch wouldn`t it still go into gear etc without it? Dont want to pay a man several hours to find out . Done about 30,000 mls, not like Mr Hondas gearbox to give out so suspect clutch .
    Any ideas ?

First solve the known problem. Adjust the clutch so it works correctly, then see if there's a problem with the gearbox.

    Peter,

Have you changed or topped up the oil recently? Having been reading through Mr Haynes' manual a lot recently, the wrong oil is suggested as being a possible cause of gear problems

I will check but ok last time i looked. Whether its the wrong oil i couldnt say. Its booked in for an MOT this week and i will ask them to have a look then make up a spurious fault and change me the earth as normal.

Let me just clear this up then, You are suggesting this "Oil" may be important . That someone who allows it to run all but out may expect problems then ?
So just supposing my bike needed lots of this "Oil" to even register that may be a cause for concern?
If such a fool needed oil, he would possibly buy 10/40w , bike specific then ?
I will bear that in mind in the event of such foolishness .
