I can't agree with that more. Up until the age of 19 I had never been abroad and had never realised what living under the sun really meant. Being a Scotsman, all I had ever never known were damp and grey skies.

Then for various reasons, mainly bad ones, I decided to get the f+£% out of there. Bought a one way ticket to Isreal and since have never returned to live in Britain, that was 21 years ago. I have travelled and lived in several countries since Israel, I currently live in France, and can honestly say that I could never return to living under those grey and dismal skies. ( Although I do agree that I have never been anywhere else, except Germany, that offers the same quality of pubs).

I have returned to visit my parents several times in the last 20 odd years and each time I feel that life in Britain has seriously degraded. Political correctness, CCTV, I won't rant on as I realise that many of you still live there.

On top of that, it's a bloody nightmare for anyone that owns a bike, rain, rust, fog .........

Come on guys wake up and put the chunnel, ferrys to use. The continent offers a huge playground, just leave the Brit attitude at home and you'll get on fine.

    Somehow missed that threat completly
Mighthave to do with my pc at home beeing a big puzzle and it is quite tricky to sneak into the office and read and post threats
I know what you mean about turkey, lived and worked in istanbul for a year and than did some backpacking around the place and loved it.Also lived in sa for 14 years and that always will be "my" home ,once you have africa in your blood...
We are at the moment busy applying for our visa to get into australia that is why i am a bit slack with my posts(and no pc at home )
I just hope to give my child a live where they still can live outdoors without all this health and safty, somewhere where they encourage sport and the weather is a bit better
People find it hard to believe how much of a diffrence it makes when you have decent weather.
but having lived in sa i must say i loved every minute of it ,just to be able to plan 2 weeks ahead to go camping and be pretty much granted to have good weather
We are so looking forward to a livce with a bit more sun, space(i soooo miss proper open space) and maybe people wich have a diffrent outlook on live.

I've told you before, Shane, Guinness has two 'n's. You will have to write out 100 times, 'I will not drink Guiness' But the absolute best thing about Ireland is.... you can ride a Varadero 125 when you're 16

    Well, I like it here

I like the (varied) weather, I like the countryside, I like the beer and the pubs and the food, I like british humour, I like british liberty and british politics, I like british roads, I actually like my job . I like the english language and the fact that because of it we lead the world, british history, vintage cars, bikes and industrial stuff. There's lots I Like. oh and british food, especially curries

I don't like: Chavs and Chav culture, political correctness, CCTV/speed cameras and other liberty infringements, things stopped on spurious health and safety grounds that are safe, commuting, bad drivers, busy roads and rip-off Britain, and the way politics is often led by the latest fashion - green taxes being the latest, and education system that can turn out illiterate morons

I can't think of a better place to live.

I'm with Austin on this , nothing wrong with good old Britain as a place to live. Nobody needs to starve to death here , nobody needs to die because they can't afford the medical expenses and we have not yet adopted the culture of shooting our fellow creatures because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time, (well not unless you are employed by the Metropolitan branch of the SS).

Nothing wrong with this country that the people can't fix - just vote the bastards out and keep doing that, 'till they realise that they govern because we allow them to.

Jeez sometime I forget this is a bike forum - sorry about that !!!!
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!
