    The cost of kids kit!!!!!!

    £450 quid

... for a pair of gloves, boots, jacket and trousers and back protector

Still, I'm well happy with the kit and I know my 9 year old pride and joy number 1 is now well cossetted on the bike when she's out with me.

For the record it was a knox back protector, Hein gericke gor-tex thermal allsinging and dancing trousers and jacket and gloves, so good quality stuff. But please, nearly 500 notes just before christmas, and if she gives a growing spurt over the winter she'll be handing them down to pride and joy number 2 daughter, and I'll be doing it all again.

Tom - off to empty the fridge and find a big brick to put on her head

I got Mini Mabels Jacket from ebay - its a Richa and a good fit for £20. Her helmet we spent about £150 on and trousers are Frank Thomas. Kangaroo Skin gloves £30.

Still looking for a pair of boots for her - shes grown out of her last ones, but she doesn't ride in the winter because its a bit cold.

I am very strict she does not get on the bike without the proper kit. We do it with full knowledge of the dangers and how much it will hurt if we fall of, kids do it because it is cool and fun without a real understanding of the implications. It has taken me a long time to actually allow her to ride with us and I cant take her a pillion very often because I am so scared that I ride like an arse so she is safer with Jason

Got all this to deal with in the spring Boys are jjjuuuussttt about on the foot pegs, and I expect by next year they'll be ready. Plan on getting jacket/trousers/gloves/boots to share (as they are very close in sizes), but helmets each. There is a specialist kids clobber retailer that deals in quality secondhand kit, who will part-ex stuff when your precious little one outgrows it. Can't remember the name, but one of the chaps from the thumperclub has all their details.

This is where Im a bit lumbered for a few years now My 9 year olds stuff will be handed down to the 6 year old over time - she's had her second lot of hand me downs already! But by the time I could actually sell them they're erm, well worn lol so not much point. Meantime daughter number 1 requires bigger stuff, and on it goes. I did manage to get some bits when she started out with me 3 years ago second hand and really good quality, but of late there doesnt seem to be much kids stuff around so it was off to the retailers and please, heres my wallet, kick all round your fine shop lol.

Squirrelciv - if you do remember the name of that place let us know here and I can take a note of it for future reference.

Mabel thats sooooooo true - my 9 year old resents comming on the 125 as its just not cool lol , but loves the alp and loved the cbr as they have, her her view, top pose value. She regularly asks if she could sit on the bike when we park up somewhere, knowing full well anyone passing would stop and chat - specially the BOYS
