They are decent lads, have met them a few times in the Abercrave Inn and rode from lands end to wales with them last year. As for the 1200 GS can't get it off the side stand so no point in even looking at it

got to agree they do look nice, but I was supprised how much oil they burn!! well for a four stroke
1994 TA did 3000m on the stella run.. used nowt.. two 5mth old 1200GSs need a ltr top-up in Italy after 1000m, then one developed engine management issues. 600cc v rules dude

Gs's burn oil until they're properly run in, usually about 18k. My 1150 had done 30k and didn't use any, my 1200GS did 18k and stopped using oil about 15k. My ADV has only done 1500 miles so can't comment.

Oh and it's the ADV Mabel can't get off the sidestand not the standard 1200.

I've been to quite a few do's with both the Gsers and the GS club and they're as friendly as the people on this site.

I test rode a 1200 and a KTM990 a couple of months ago, and disliked the BMW´s gearbox, engine feel bellow 4000 or so rpm, otherwise was quite impressed by the suspension and brakes.

The KTM was awesome though, explosive, less comfy than the BMW, though more comfy than I expected, and a great engine, if a little "harsh" and noisy.

Both of them felt smaller and lighter than I expected, specially the Beemer, which felt really light

the 1200GS is very light for a bike of that size and the engine seems to like living higher up the rev range than the 1150 that in turn makes it feel a lot friskier than the 1150 . i liked it but at the mo prefer the more planted feel of the heavier 1150

must blag a test ride on the 1200 ADV this year
