    Garage Fire !!!!

    Right....now I`ve got your attention,think for a moment.

    Petrol.

    Oil.

    Brake fluid.

    Paint.

    Solvents.

    Rags and other combustible material.

Batteries gassing off while on charge.

All in a confined space, often poorly ventilated, and often attached to a house.

HAVE YOU GOT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND FIRE BLANKET IN YOUR GARAGE ??

HAVE YOU GOT ANY SMOKE/FIRE WARNING DEVICES IN YOUR GARAGE ??

    Hmmm...thought not.

Better nip out to the shops ASAP then, hadn`t you ??

And get one for the kitchen too.

I`ve posted this after re-arranging my garage and re-positioning my fire extinguisher...and suddenly wondering how many other folk have at least an extinguisher in their garage.

Some of us don't have the luxury of a garage But if I did have I'd now be totally paranoid and legging it down to Fires R Us instead of typing this

we even got fire extinguishers in the eves, just where you cant reach them when the battery goes flat at 2am when Mr Mabel is away with work
oh and it takes 2 bloody hours to find because he never told me it was there in the first place.

    Re: Garage Fire !!!!

Good reminder about the fire extinguisher, mine's alway's buried behind all the crap because I've never needed it.....

On more than one occasion when welding or grinding, I have smelt burning only to look down and find it's me
Set a box of pigeon bangers on fire once, only found out during my dinner when I heard a load of 'gun shots' outside.....

Safety first, safety second as they say

    Re: Garage Fire !!!!

Or you could put one of those green "fire exit" signs above a door. As I understand it the fire will then go out.

But don't make the mistake of fighting fire with fire, the insurance comapanies really don't like it.
