    BMW Rideout

On Sunday Ben and myself went across to the official opening of Bahnstormer our new BMW dealer at the top of the A34 by Alton. BMW has brought a truck of test bikes down, for rideouts. By 3 pm there was hardly anybody there. So we proceeded to test ride virtually the whole BMW range !!!! fantastic fun.

    I rode

    XMoto
    XChallenge
    XCountry
    GS1200
    GS1200 Adventure
    R1200S
    GS650

What a laugh that XMoto is, you can really go loopy on that. I must say that despite numerous BMW slaggings by Moi, the GS1200 is a bloody good bike. I would not say better than the Varadero but very good, i really liked it. So we had a good afternoon !!!!

    Mabel

I rode the 650 Dakar Demo a while back and to be frank i was not very impressed, it all felt a bit remote, and on the example i rode a poor gearbox. It also fely noticeably "thumper".

The standard GS650 that i rode at the weekend was a really sweet little bike, i liked that a lot, very smooth for a single, handled well, and a nice ride. Felt like a nice friendly little bike if you know what i mean.

Anna is in the same situation as you Mabel. She either wants a Transalp or this little BMW. The BMW is slightly smallerand lighter but not a twin !!!

THanks SHep, because it's a thumper was the reason I didn't go for it at the time

    Chad

No HP2, which was a pity becuase i badly wanted a go on that.

The XMoto was a real laugh, barking, just bang it over, and keep it nailed. Only had 73miles on the clock, and i was hitting the rev limiter in nearly every gear !! i still feel guilty about that
