Thanks Wee, i gracefully accept and also promise to SHUT UP !!!!

Seriously though a very important subject i am really passionate about it. I am a Hedge Fund Manager and i see a lot of very unpleasant stuff FIRST HAND, how the bankers perpetually try and screw the little guys and then try hide it with lies, bull****, propaganda and spin.

Very unpleasant place the City Of London if you ever shake hands with any of them wash your hands immediatly after, and check you have still got your wedding ring. If you want morals and upstanding honour and character trust your local used car salesman or Double glazing salesperson they are far more trustworthy.

But once again thanks for the award.

Oh No Shep - don't shut-up. I like to read your stuff on the "financial" sector.

I find it very imfomative , us minnows don't usually get the inside perspective , nor do we usually think about it, getting screwed would seem to be something we have grown to accept without even realising it.

    Wee

If you really want to know how the system really works

1 Read this article http://www.trendinvestor.info/Earth.pdf written by a Bank Of Australia ex Governor shortly before he died

2 This is the best Financial website on the Net, masses of information and a superb radio show every weekend www.financialsense.com

3 Read anything by Warren Buffett and George Soros these guys are the best in the business.

4 Go to Amazon and buy he only book you will ever need regarding the markets written in 1921 by Edwin Lefevre "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" the true story about Jesse Livermore the greatest speculator of all time. THis book is the Bible, a total must read, packed full of timeless and Golden information.

Get into that lot and Wee will be the nw George Soros. Think extremely long term, Short term trading is designed to seperate you quickly from your cash.

I designed a very simple system that simply tracks the NASDAQ 100 Index which you can trade via the QQQQ,s or Full size or E-Mini Futures contracts, or even Spreadbets or CFD,s. Simple to use but it took me 2 years to design it !!!!

With $50,000 you would have bought or gone LONG on the 24/09/1994 you would have sold on the 30/10/2000 and gone SHORT the market on the 24/01/2003 you would have cpovered your SHORT and gone LONG again, you would still be LONG to this day.

You would use 3 to 1 margin and would only have adjusted this margin to account for losses or gains on the 01/01 of each year.

Guess how much money you would have in your account Today?

    $130,048,120

3 trades you are told exactly when to take the trades, so no thought whatsoever, and never a losing year, and over $130 Million in your account.

This proves the importance of compound interest and long term thinking.

Re: And The Award Goes To.......

    Rob

It is really easy to learn, far easier than the computer !!!. What is difficuilt to learn is to extract what is really good information from all the false news and propaganda, that takes experience and a few losses.

Jesse Livermore stated that "I never mind the losses, that is the price you have to pay for your education"

It then becomes a simple gamblers game of identifying your edge and then exploiting your edge. A profeesional gambler likes to play Blackjack becuase a good player with a good memory can get a statistical 5% advantage. So if you then play 100 hands and each hand pays out $1000 you lose 45 times and win 55 times you make $10,000

That is all we do, but i would like to think that our edge is closer to 70% winners and 30% losers.

For Example at present we are SHORT the NASDAQ 100 i have a 2.5% loss IMMEDIATLY THAT IT GETS TO 5% i CLOSE THE POSITION and take the loss of 5%, No hesitation and a non negociable subject.

I have identified how much the mr market can take off me, so i know my potential loss. I also know that i win 70% of the time this is one of the 30% losers.

I would then sit back, relax, and identify the next "hand" to play. You need to cut your losses fast, but let your profits run.

Its all Psychological and very long term thinking

Warrn Buffett " Succesfull investing requires a work ethic bordering on extreme sloth"

Half the time you sit back do nothing and let the market trend produce your profits, its that easy, but takes years of experience to do well.

Sorry, I'm sure your a nice guy and all that and I don't doubt you know your onions, but I have you down as one sandwich short of a picnic But you know what they say..... " The words of a genious is the babbling of a lunatic to the ears of a fool "

If I am the ignorant nutter here, then I'm glad. Life is sooo much nicer when you only care about the little things. Wondering what World banks get up to is like worrying about a meteor strike.

    And a poem to finish

    How happy is the moron,
    he doesn't give a damn.
    I wish I was a moron,
    my God, perhaps I am!

    Squirell

Maybe you are completely right, who knows. What i would say in defence is that i was like you once, life going well not a care in the world, then i got hit with Negative equity in the early 90,s reccesion and huge bad debt just over £154,000. Survived this BUT ONLY JUST and built back up again. eight years later smashed back down much harder with a divorce lost the lot.

NOW THE POINT OF MENTIONING THIS IS VERY SIMPLE life may not be what you think it is, the harsh reality is often very different.

I wanted to know who had all of this control over my destiny i thought it was me HOW WRONG I WAS. Now i have built back up again but this time from my own self education.

My only real point in all of these posts is NOT TO TRUST AND SELF EDUCATE YOURSELF otherwise you are simply fodder.
