    Bike Magazines

Just out of curiosity What bike mags do you guys read (if any)
    If none why not...

I used to read an Aussie one called Road Rider.. but they kinda lost me after they refused to do any adventure touring stuff..

I dont seem to read any here (with regularity.. MCN, bike, Two, once and a while but nothing that i would subscribe too)

ALSO Whealie what ones do you write for..

    Re: Bike Magazines

MCN too many ads (esp irrelevant when you're not looking for a bike AND you're in Ireland), TWO too 'sportsbikes good , high speed good, trailies etc rubbish' .Like RIDE magazine- they seem to be more in the real world, covering both the exotic and the everyday

    Re: Bike Magazines

Yeah I agree, TWO is very much Sportsbike focussed...well, they all are really, but this one more so than the others. BIKE seems to have a bit more of an overall view of biking as opposed to just catering for the Power Rangers, although every test or mention of a "big traily" seems to refer to the GS1200.

I bought both last weekend, which I only ever do when I'm likely to have to sit around (ie Airports) and RIDE was by far the best read.

    Re: Bike Magazines

I've been subcribed for nearly two years to Motorcycle Sport and Leisure, bit of an oldie having been around since 1962, although it's recently gone through a complete and IMO successful revamp. Despit the name their isn't too much emphasis on the sport element but a lot on the Leisure, always loads of great travel and touring articles, The road tests are more in the real world than many of the other mags. Reviewing the bikes on there merits rather than slaggin' bike because they don't deliver 170 bhp etc.

And one of the writers, Peter Henshaw owns or owned a TA I recommend trying it, I just discovered it one day while paying for my petrol in the local garage.

The only other bike mag. I read frequently is BIKE. Again a good selection of articles and road tests, just IMO not quite such a good read as MSL

Agree though that RIDE is good too.

I find MCN too doom and gloom, if many of the headline stories had come true we would al be driving around in four wheeled motorbikes in full armour with engines restricted to 10bhp, only allowed to ride out on easter sunday between 12 -1pm.

.....and as for SuperBike magazine, just pure unrefined poo!
    F800GS ...broom broom yeah!!!

    Re: Bike Magazines

Another vote for MSL like Rushh. I don't bother much with anyother mags, my bro gets them all and I scrounge a glance at his.

Get MCN every week , but a lot of trees slaughtered for no good reason some weeks !!!.
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

    Re: Bike Magazines

MSL love the open road section where others write about their trips. Kevin & Julia Saunders are now regulars so should give some interesting reading.

Buy Ride when I am on the look out for new kit. Their kit reveiws are very good.

    Re: Bike Magazines

    ABSOLUTELY NONE!!!!

If I fancy a bike it's when I see it on the road and that's when I go for a test drive!!

It's like when people tell me that there's a local bike show and automatically assume that I want to go!!

I simply ride because that's me enjoying the freedom

    Re: Bike Magazines

Just about any..... mostly... what ever is on the top of the pile of bike mags in my local pub.... BIKE.... BSH.... TWO....

I buy MCN about 3 times a year just to keep up to date with SH prices...

In general.... any literature regarding bikes will interest me.....

I also have a collection of vintage motorcyle books.... handbooks, manuals, parts catalogues ect.....

Just found one in South Cornwall last week.... called Motorcycle Pocket Book.... its great reading and tells about motorcycling in the early 60's...
