    Good on 'em.

All I can say is I wish I was going along. I shall however be taking careful note of their route for future reference

Crap! They're riding the Pigs again .

A lot of people were hoping this would be the coming out party for the BMW F800GS - guess we'll all have to wait some more .

Here's hoping they have a great ride!

Yeah, definately, I'm very envious, but then, the question I continue to ponder is... will we see BMW turn up to fix their bikes when the ABS computer fails?

I heard (and I may be wrong) that the lastest BMs have a device for making the brake light automatically act as a rear light (at a reduced brightness) if the original filament fails. Problems are caused however when the computer refuses to believe that the bulb has been changed and the warning light won't go out on the dash. This year it doesn't stop the bike actually running but in a few years maybe it will.If it's true then 10/10 for a good idea and 0/10 for putting it on a bike.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

That's right (except that they've been doing it for years).

Other manufacturers simply fit two bulbs! No computery, twice as bright when both working, easy to fix when not.

I believe the system they try here is one that looks like PLC computer stuff.
We heve that at work so the manufacturer can save on electrical wires.
The machines we have @ work are huge enough so it makes sense.

Don't know why they're doing on a bike because that doens't have much wiring in it and with the example of changing a light bulb a reset should be done either with a simple button or a programmer in the BMW shop that is rediculously expensive and not for everyone.

Its still a new technoligy to sell to people but in the industry its quite common. As I said just a bit rediculous though espescially if your standing in de dessert with a bike that made for that sort of stuff and the CPU of your engine is telling the bike's PLC that it can't find the engine.

At work we are prepared for that stuff so the only thing you can do is leave the GS at home and go the LWR on an @.
