i know 2 people who own them and they say they are brilliant. Realy good, quick, smooth reliable V4. Good comfort and brilliant wind protection. Very good 2 up touring etc and very nimble even at slow speeds. I've often thought about getting one if i went away from trailies. Now the two i know are both 1100, don't know what the 1300 is like.

I got taken on the back of one of them and it was brill. Loads of room, and i'm 6'3", and quick at going and stopping. Was very impressed with the way my friend could fling it about and at slow speeds too.

If you go onto the Varadero Forum http://www.honda-varadero-uk.org/for...p?action=forum

Ask Red and Honeymonster for their opnions. Both have the 1300 version and have moved over from Varadero's.

Thames Valley police and the ambulance service aren't too impressed with the Pan Euro, or so it appears from this story in todays Oxford Mail, they've taken then off the road until they can get to the bottom of a high speed stability problem that may have attributed to an officers death.

I think Wee Jack on this forum owned one before "upgrading" to a Transalp

The police had similar problems with BMW's in the past as the way they load the bikes with heavy radio equipment, sirens, first aid kits, upgraded electrics, larger batteries etc makes the bikes unstable. Normal loads would not effect the bikes in this way.

    Hello
Just found this site.Looks good.I had a pan for 4 years from new.Got rid of it 3 year ago.Really nice bike.150mph all day without an ache.Live in Spain and used it every day to and from work in Barcelona.outside on the m/way then inside with the lunatics.accelerates breaks corners ok for a heavy bike.Passenger comfortable and lots of luggage space as standard.Trips to England through France were great. Can't fault it as a tourer though on the twisties it was hard work. Its 1 of the best continent crossers.not as big as a goldwing of course.gets a move on when asked to and can be sporty if you've got the balls to push it through the corners.Mine was green and i called it Henry.

Re: ever owned a pan euro??

I've had two Pans , both ST1100's , one was a 1999 ABS version and one was a 2002 non ABS version. Brilliant bikes at what they were designed to do ie hundreds of miles and sitting on it all day. I never really took to the 1300 version and never considered an upgrade, I just felt that it never really needed the extra CCs. If Honda had simply upgraded the 1100 engine to FI and put on a SS exhaust systen it would have been perfect.

The only "fault " on the 1100 was the exhaust collector/"Y" piece made of a particularly rust prone grade of steel and I used to hose it every day in the winter to drown the rust maggots. and the exhaust was OK in both mine, I have heard of some owners replacing almost anually !!! FFS !!. I used to do about 16-17K miles a year and used the pans every day of the year

I "upgraded" to a Transalp , because I do less than 10k miles a year now and fancied something a bit easier to push around. But if I were a rich man do-be-do-be-do-be-doooooo , I would get a nice late model 1100 to keep the Alp company.
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!
