You don't see many of those these days...

In the last week or so, I've seen a few "interesting" bikes - ones that have made me think of "when I were a lad". I've seen a 250 Superdream, CX500, GS850, RD250 (aircooled), GT185 - All in really good condition (and on the road, not a bike show!!). Not showroom - but really nice. It made me wonder - what has anyone else seen?

Old bonnie that looked like a wreck at first glance, but on closer inspection turned out to be a well cared for daily driver with all the road grime and bumps and scrapes that implies.

    Nice.

Ahhh, CX500s, one of my favourite bikes I ever owned, love what this bloke did to his.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

not exactly the coolest bike of the 70's but I was using this quite regularly until last year. I may get it taxed again soon.

I went to buy some carpet underlay from a bloke. When we went into his garage for the underlay he had two Honda Benlys. One totally in showroom condition and original except for number plate with only 3000 miles on it, owned from new. The second in the process of restoring for fun and around 90% complete that he will be selling. Not the type of thing you expect to see when buying underlay.

Nice, a K4 if I'm not mistaken ?? I had it's successor the G5, my first bike back in 1975 when you could buy a 250 and a set of "L" plates and just get on it and ride away .................... it's amazing I'm still alive !!!!
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

Hmmmm I had a G5 as well but not until I passed my test on CD175. Not quite as good as the K4 but looked better.

I saw a whole bunch of Suzuki 2 stroke twins & triples and Kawasaki KH's all on a ride out t'other day. GT185s, 250's and 500 twins a couple of GT750 triples and some KH's of indeterminate capacity.

Great bikes but they don't half look old fashioned now.
2001 Transalp XLV650. Faithful old friend still chugging away nearly 100,00miles
2007 Varadero XLV1000. Now you're torquing but sadly gone to another forum member. One of the best bikes - period.
Yamaha XT660r - slowly getting it ready for some big adventures

Re: You don't see many of those these days...

Last time I walked round DK Motorcycles in Newcastle (under Lyme), I saw a Suzuki GT750, a Honda 400-4 F1 and a Honda CB750K7 (just like the one I had in 1979).
It's a great place to wander round, half bike shop, half museum

Always come out with wallet ache though, they have literally hundreds of bikes and all styles old and new.
