    Lexus LS400

    What have i done !!!!!!!

I am not a big fan of cars, too easy to waste good money that could be spent on bikes !!!!. My younger brother bought a really nice Lexus LS400 a few weeks ago, what a car, i could not believe how good it was to drive, incredibly smooth and basically silent.

So yetsterday i saw for sale in our local paper

1996 Lexus LS400, 1 Owner from new, 74,000 Miles, immaculate condition, £1995 ono

I was onto him like a rash, straight across there, offered him £1500, told me where to go, so we settled on £1750.

I cannot believe that you can buy a car of this quality for peanuts. Also found that sourcing parts from American Ebay is the way to go. I then drove to our local Lexus dealer just to have a look really. One of the mechanics told me they have a 1991 customer car that has done 520,000 miles original engine, no real problems just routine stuff, and many customer cars with over 300,000 on the clock.

I then drove down to one of the clinics and averaged just over 30mpg from a 4.0 V8 !!!. Mine is slate grey with black leather interior.

    Well chuffed

    I'm almost embarassed to say....£193

But they did wash it for me! Hehehehe

Running real nice now though I must say...once I get a big screen back on I'll feel it's back to how it should be! Just in time for me to drop it loads on the Stella!

You jammy git Shep, that's a good price for what I consider to be one of the best cars bar none. I have driven two of them, one in Greece and one here and I was soooooooooooooo impressed.

I frequently scan ebay for them but what stops me in the end is the fact that my Honda is just too good and has taken me all over the place. The other reason is the fact that I only use the car very, very occasionly.

I have no doubt that will own one eventually, it's just a matter of time.

Good luck with your car but don't fall asleep as they are so relaxing

    Bob

I love Honda cars as well my Honda Prelude Vtec was an awesome car and very quick as well, superbly put together.

I cannot believe how cheap these Lexus are now. I was very nervous about spares prices but over at the Lexus Forum they have got good contacts in the States for all the common parts and very cheap.

Since i have had the car, i have done the following

1 Re gas Air Con £43.50
2 Balance the front tyres and change oil and filter £42 for the lot at ATS Euromaster.
3 New Pollen Filter and New Air Filter £40.30 from Lexus main dealer
4 New set of NGK Iridium plugs from www.Sparkplugs.co.uk also get my bike plugs from them, good company 8 plugs needed !!!!! £56.35

But if you think about it, the Air Con should last 2 years, as will the Pollen filter, The Air Filter is an every 36,000 mile change, the Oil and Filter every 9000 miles, and plugs every 60,000 miles !!!!
