well as far as advice on the gravel, or mountain track, or road, motor x, i can give you if you are visiting the south of Ireland Butty, and also a shelter if theres a storm and your near me or need to fix the bike and of coarse Internet access to this wonder full site. jobs a goodun.![]()
sorry and interesting places for you as well.
It's a kind of "how long is a piece of string?" question. The options for interesting things and roads is huge. Trying to see as much as possible in terms of miles/area is IMHO a mistake. Travelling times are slow because of the lack of motorways. My advice would be to limit yourself to a general area of three or four counties and enjoy them without having to link your tour together with the often boring main roads.
I would recommend the south west (I'm biased), you could spend a whole day on the Beara without having time to travel every road. However the mid west, north west, south east, south, northern midlands, east, (hang on I've covered almost all of it!) is all lovely.
And of course there's plenty of mad eejits from this site to give you the guided tour whichever part of the country you end up in.
If only a few days, do the Ring of Kerry and Dingle peninsular. Not too far from Rosslare.

Don't do the Ring of Kerry unless you want to follow Tour Buses and Motorhomes... and prats in hire cars... and caravans...
We live on the Ring of Kerry and for the next 6 weeks it's a bummer traffic wise... of course if you go into the middle of the Iveragh Peninsula that's different. The beautiful MacGillicuddy Reeks are a fantastic sight and are home to Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil and have two wonderful mountain passes and best of all hardly any traffic. Click on this link for the real stuff! http://www.iveragh.8m.net
But my fave, like FFergie is the Beara Penninsula..... cos it's got the HEALY PASSbest bit of biking road in Irealnd! Ask Simon
Although if you've only got a few days, Wicklow is pretty hard to beat...

Thanks guys, I may well give the Irish lads a shout when we have confirmed what we are doing. It will likely be around the week of the 20th August that we come for a visit. In the meantime will have a look to narrow down where we want to visit.
