Re: Touch of rain in London

I was going to post about this earlier but I have a new computer and I have spent hours sorting it (and still more time to go).
I came back through London today, just after the rain (I had been through it earlier). It was weird. It was boiling hot, blue sky, roasting. I had to pull over to remove my waterproofs and allow some air in as it was so hot.
Yet the roads werer flooded. The M4 elevated section was flooded and that is 20 metre above the ground. At Hamersmith (I had pulled off the M4 because of the traffic) I saw two cars submerged in water under a railway bridge. If there had been a kid in the car seat there would have been no chance of survival. One car just had the roof above the water and the other, slightly bigger, had the roof and may be six inches showing.
It was like riding through fords the whole way home. And it had basically rained for about an hour - thunder and lightning and bloody heavy rain but only for an hour or so.
    Weird.

But how will all the car drivers know where the white lines are? They will be lost without them! They might be unable to follow the rules of the road! Oh hang on, same as any other day then.

Sorry, feeling very anti-car after an incident today

I don't like it in case I don't see a kerb edge or missing manhole cover that's been forced up and in the sticks in case there is a roadside ditch I can't see which will swallow me and the bike up. I think it's cos I can't swim.

Nope, if I've gotta go through water, I want a proper ford with someone doing it first I don't like very much to make sure it safe and someone to take a pic that makes it look deeper than it is.

3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

    Chad

Went with Anna on the Varadero down to Keyhaven through the New Forest Yesterday FANBLOODYTASTIC ride. We had sun for the whole day. Good lunch, sleep on the beach, great trip back, big food and 2 bottles of cabernet Sauvignon, and Moto GP on the TV last night

Still have a nice thick head today to remember it !!!
