    Essex Police Bike Safe Day

    Hi,

I spent the day with the Essex Police today doing their bike safe course. It's run about 10 times a year and it's designed to improve your bike handling and road awareness. It starts with some time in the training road pointing out road positioning, breaking and how things going wrong and what to do to decrease your chances of having an off the bike situation. Then it's out on the roads for a couple of hours with a police rider following your moves and looking at your riding faults (I had a few ) then they take stop you and show your to improve your cornering, overtaking, breaking & road awareness.

It was slightly nerve racking to start with being followed by the Police but you got used to it.

It was an excellent day loads of riding and instruction we had one officer to two riders which was great because you felt like you were really getting som good advice.

Really enjoyed the day and would recommend it to anybody.

Had a few stoppies some woman backing up her car on slip road from the A12 because of traffic. Sirens went on and she had a telling off. Ah it was nice to travel around with the Police, the cars part and let you through

    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright

I've done a couple of Bikesafe days run by the Met at the Ace Cafe. I cannot say enough brillant things about these days. They are Brillant. Plain and simple and the best 30 quid you'll ever spend.

    Blimey! Thirty quid?!?

Don't suppose there's a list or a network or something that I could check in with to see if they do anything in this area?
RD07a, reg in 2001, Black, heated grips, short screen, Scottoiler, Givi top box and panniers, DataTag, full Riky Cross crash bars, Baglux tank cover, Facet pump, mostly 200 miles to reserve and presently a lot happier since being loved up at Chad's hospital for sick ATs!

Re: Essex Police Bike Safe Day

Essex one was 60 quid (including lunch) but still a good deal.

It was really good because the police guys were all keen bikers and don't want to stop you having fun they just want you to enjoy riding but just do it safer.

... yes, I think I will do some more training. How can it be a bad thing???

Thanks Alpslapper - the only one anywhere near me seems to be Milton Keynes: a six day course with a waiting list... I've put my name forward but they say it's only available to riders within 20 miles of MK
Ah well, going oop north later this year or early next, so maybe I'll be allowed on one of theirs
