    New KTM Blog

I just started a blog and will document my experiences with the ownership and running of the KTM 990 ADV.

For anyone who may be interested in seeing how the beast fairs at the hands of a rider who pampers his bikes but does use them daily.

We have all heard the stuff about KTM back-up and reliability - well this will be my first hand account for anyone who was thinking of dipping their toe in the Austrian waters but was put of by the scaremongers.
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

What I've been waiting for! I'm planning on selling two of my bikes to finance the 990.I'm real nervous about letting two brilliant machines go just to end up with a living nightmare but I'm just nuts about the KTM.I'm in no rush so I will follow your blog until I know things are all good!

Ooooh... this is exciting! Looking forward to reading what your thoughts and experiences are Jack
My 'short' list before I got Boris was a secondhand AT or a new KTM or Varadero. Mostly, my decisions are around afford-ability and geometry (I look and feel like a curled up grasshopper on most bikes...). I was put off by the reliability stories and there's hardly any of those kinds of myths about the fabulous AT
RD07a, reg in 2001, Black, heated grips, short screen, Scottoiler, Givi top box and panniers, DataTag, full Riky Cross crash bars, Baglux tank cover, Facet pump, mostly 200 miles to reserve and presently a lot happier since being loved up at Chad's hospital for sick ATs!

I'm trading - in my Transalp, just a bit down on power for me, for everything I do on a bike, Commuting, Playing, touring , two -up etc.

The transalp is a brill bike and there is a wee lump in the old throat about getting rid of it - i feel like a traitor , the wee bike has never missed a beat and does NEARLY everything I need - just needs mair oomph !!!

Before the Transalp I had a couple of Pan Europeans in a row, before that a K series Beamer.

So the KTM gives me the added power with the same weight as the ALP.

YIP !! heard all the stories and heard all the ones about 30K-40K miles with no hassles. The way I look at it is .......... it's under warranty for 2 years if it's a pig then it's the dealer and KTM's problem for that time - then after two years if it remains a pig - then it goes.

I hope the blog will be a fair assessment of my experiences.

All my previous bikes got pampered - washed and lubed and skooshed with the various lotions and potions. So if the KTM proves to be a dog then it is a dog.
