Makes yer 6,000 mile service pale into insignficance.....

    Never mind your 6,000 mile service....how about 25 years` service ??

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got a memo in work today to go and see the Ops Manager ( The Man....The Big Boss).

    The reason ???

    To give me an award.

For TWENTY FIVE YEARS` SERVICE .

    25 years......a quarter of a century !!

He himself was only 14 years old and at school when I started my apprenticeship....and only has 3 years service where I work

We had a chat...mostly cheesy 'corporate talk' and then I got my award.

    A £450 gift voucher.

There may possibly be one generation younger than me where long service like this may occur...but I bet there can`t be many more......

So I`m an official 'Old Arse' now......

Well done Tarka - the question is ..... do you feel valued and rewarded for your hard work and loyalty?

I'm in the 22nd year with my employer , not far behind you.
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

I`m not really bothered about that mate....it`s a clean and almost stress free environment...I`ve got nobody sitting on my shoulder...I have access to specialist machine shops and equipment, plus materials ....I get lots of time off... the pay is very good...and I have the comedy factor of attending a daily performance of 'Carry on Food Factory'.....

Well done Tarka ..... consistency and perservance ....

I dont imagine there can be many that do 25 years with one company - that kind of loyalty belongs to a certain generation I agree, most workforces are mobile nowadays, and the concept of a 'job for life' doesnt really cut it with younger people now. Not necessarliy a bad thing, but its goos to see the company you work for at least recognise your there !!! I know many places, including my own, dont recognise long service, years of no sickness absence, etc...... although there are rumours that might be changing.

It`s a large site with different, stand alone, blocks or departments.... kind of seperate mini factories themselves....Biscuit making and wrapping department...Tea Blending and packing department...Cake making and packing department.. plus 'Site Services' which is site wide electrical installation and maintenance....and I`ve worked in all of them over the 25 years, although an employee of the same overall factory name.

So effectively I`ve worked in different places....not just been in the same room for quarter of a century

I've been working for myself since 1993. Must sit myself down for a chat and give myself some M&S vouchers.
