It most certainly is.........met Rod briefly on the mountain, and then spent a couple of hours chatting to him in the Station bar where we were all entertained by Tarka discussing the finer parts of polishing his bits with the correct lotions and potions.........

Rod's MZ did look good all in Black.......but we didn't envy him the long ride home on a naked supermoto......

So it's a London based thing then??

It wouldn't get up here unless someone put a copy on a fast packet ship.

'' stopped at the checkpoint on the way down. This is an arbitrary position on the mountain, which the organisers (I guess this means Mario) decide is a reasonable point for a well-ridden road bike to get to. At the checkpoint you can buy a grossly overpriced Stella Alpina T-shirt and badge. All the badges were gone so I got this lousy shirt… I met an English couple also being swindled out of their life savings, it turned out that the lady of the two had only passed her test the week before. Deep respect.''

Bit late, but better late than never eh?

I was that man on that mountain.

I went back in 2008 and conquered the mountain (or not) on my Ural outfit. I met some of you lot there again.

I expect to back there again in 2010, on some ridiculously unsuitable vehicle.

The Riders Digest is now available nationally in WHSmiths, Borders etc. for the grand some of £2.50 or you can get a cheap subscription on their website.

    I still write for them.

    (when I'm not making sidecars)

The Riders Digest - 'Two Wheel Passion' (mag)
    Motopodd (my sidecars)
