Roll-up , Have A Free Pop At Wee Jack

Well, my Honda riding cyber buddies, you now have your chance to have a good old kick at Wee me.

    The KTM is down !.

I left work tonight , started the the beastie , set-off out of the works car park and 50 yards down the road ........phut !! ......cut oot. Lost the dash lights and revcounter , so quickly figured a blown fuse (one good point about the KTM - the fuses are really accessable), sure enough the 10 amp ignition and fuel pump - blown. Replaced the fuse , got the dash lights back , but ominously - no buzz from the fuel pump when the key was turned - sure enough no fire !!! FUEL PUMP FAILURE !! - We think .
But on the positive side , one call to Avuss and they sent out their van with a demo bike to recover mine. Great service - no ifs/buts/get it to us, routine......... just brilliant service.

So the big Katoom is in the shop and I've got a mad 690 supermoto thingy to ride.................... that's good fun ,but I want big Katie back.

So go on, do your bloody worst , I can take it like a man with no Honda !!
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

The funny thing is - I was just mulling over how GOOD the KTM's must be, after reading that log on advrider, where the ktm was in the sea getting tossed about by a monumental surf for 15 mins - and it started first push of the button !!!

I heard that the big twin KTMs had the same fuel pump (Mitsubishi) as the AT cos there wasn't enough vacuum for the normal Mikuni vac pump used on the singles. If so, maybe a Facet pump from here would work if the KTM/Mistubishi one is liable to be trouble.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

I think it was one of the 650GS Dakars that was getting "tossed".

    Impressive nonetheless.

And Jack, sorry to hear your woes.

    But we told you so!

Youre not wrong The write up on the bike being in the sea for 15 mins was below the pic of the ktm in the dunes. I got confused. It is a normal occurance that happens with alarming frequency to me.

Ahem, anyway getting back to the subject, sorry to hear of your problem Wee Jack.
One of the reasons I cried off getting a second hand 950 or a new 990, was that being so far away from the only dealer in this country, I wouldn't have had the same "luxury" as you have, "Instant Rescue". The only trustworthy mechanic on the island I live on, is 100 clicks away from me and usually switches off his cellphone after 5pm too.
Hope all will be well soon with your bike, think I'll stick with the @ for a while longer then.
