Angry NOT CHILD SAFE - Whens this madness going to stop!

    Or be stopped! .

Returned to quiet village apparently not so quiet any more to see my folks last night.

I then popped to see some freinds who were doing the same.

On returning to my folks I found the neighbours wall half kicked over with a big plant pot strewn all over the road. After shovelling that up at 1:30am I then sat behind the hedge (and absolutely did not have a big bat in my hand, no sir-eeee would not dream of it!) in my motorbike gear for an hour to make sure everything was quiet on the western front! I got out of bed this morning and walked out onto the street at the same time as a few other folk wandering round in their dressing gown wondering what they had done to deserve this.

One old guy in the process of trying to die quietly of cancer! but oh no it seems he was mistaken fighting all those years ago for these scum bags' freedom just to cause this kind of mindless malicious damage.

One wrought iron gate removed and used to ventilate a brand new golf. (actually someones friend who was visiting.)

4 kicked over walls and numerous smashed up plant pots etc.

It seems I just missed them and they came back at around 4am. sooooooooooo sorry I missed em!

Yeah big deal I hear some folk cry, come and live in the city or a big town.

Not my point I am not making comparisons, what I am doing is pointing out that it is spreading like a dose of social pox and nobody is immune. There are only so many corners you can crawl away into in the hopes it never catches up. Just how far can we all back up before our heals are on the cliffs? I'm off! this country is screwed!

Peace and compassion man they all just need a hug! screw that! I am absolutely not an advocate of violence and think a good kicking would just 'up' their credibility amongst themselves. What they need is HUMILIATION. My vote is for bringing back the village stocks. Let them come and be ridiculed and pointed at!

Much sadness on this day as I now go and rebuild all these old peoples walls who can not lift the bricks to put them back up.

similar problems here with pissed up kids coming out the pubs and football ground, no offence to all the parents here but FFS take control of your kids!!!

this country is a sh!t hole and getting worse by the week, we have been looking at going abroad for a while and soon as the busness is established enough we will be gone.

Well being a parent I do think other parents and family are to blame.

I will not let my kids roam the streets looking for trouble and hanging around.
They do have to be back in at a reasonable time in the evening, and within reason we know where they are all of the time.
They do understand right from wrong, yes they do push the boundaries on rare occasions, like I guess we all did but they know where the line is. The kids have grown up in a loving and caring family environment which I think has a lot to do with it.
It will be interesting as to see what happens as alcohol starts to get involved, but so far Ben aged 16 (nearly 17) seems to be holding up well on that front. He's allowed to drink responsibly at home when we have BBQ's, etc.. and seems to appreciate the there is a reasonable limit to what to drink.

Re: Whens this madness going to stop!

I agree that it is a relatively small minority but it is growing too fast.

After putting the last wall back in some sort of shape I noticed half a topper was missing. I consequently spent my 2 minutes with two other guys off the street emptying a little old dears (fortunately might I add!) spare bedroom so we could clear up the glass. They had put her window through! WHY?????????????????????????

Her late husband did his service in the navy for us. He must be turning in his grave! The worst of it is the police don't want to know. The good news is that she is the toughest little 80+ Scott granny!! "It'll tek more than a wee brrrick thrrrrrrough my windee te finish me oof tha wee sods"

    Oh and the latest from others on the street;

The memorial in the village and that of the neighbouring village have been smashed up and vandalised!!!! The british legion in town also had every door kicked in and cupboard ripped appart untill they found the poppy money!

My anger has gone off the boil but left me absolutely stunned and mystified. just sad now.

As bad as I think it will be they are going to push too hard and folk are going to start pushing back. Can't they see that?

Re: Whens this madness going to stop!

Just to throw in a positive, I've juss returned from a Remembrance service with about 50 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers on the March and paying attention at the service.
The Police stopped the traffic for the two mites silence and it was, once again, eerie. When they sound the reveille and the coach and bus engines start up the noise is incredible. Makes you realises how much noise there is on a normal day.
One other point, when I was five (37 years ago) we moved into a house with a driveway. There were two large, unused, wooden water barrels in the back garden s my dad put them on either side of the drive and painted them dark green. The local youths turned them over every Friday and Saturday night for a month or so. Many years later we painted them white and immediately the local youths turned them over every Friday and Saturday night for a month or so. Every time we re-painted them, the local kids seems to notice them, as if they had not been there before, and turn them over.
My observation is: there were good and bad kids then and there are good and bad kids now.

Personally I observe the two minutes silence, but sorry to say I'm not one of them armed forces wannabees who think that they've gotta stand at attention. The whole point about the silence is for you to remember all the people who gave thier lives for the relative peaceful time we have today and by observing the silence it remains forefront in your mind as to why you're being silent.

As for the youngster problems I'd suggest bring back national service or a compulsory cadets force. When I was a youngster in South Africa the army regulary took a large group from schools to camp teaching them a bit of discipline as well as fun.

Re: Whens this madness going to stop!

Thats great to hear. I was a member of scouts for the duration and it has served me well in life having good external influence and role models. Most of the lads from that scout group are great people, granted some are still torags but they learnt and have a sense of pride and decency. Nearly all of them find their way back to the village over the christmas period at one time or another, and brick layer or book keeper we are all equal and still hold our values and memories as a great asset to becoming decent people.

I am under no illusions that kids fundamentally have not changed and there will always be good n bad kids. But what has changed is there sense of decency and malicious intent. For crying out load they are attacking firemen in town!! They have lost their accountability for their actions and no longer fear or expect any form of responsibility or reprisal to be landed at their feet and, pardon the phrase, can no longer 'take it like a man'. Its never their fault.

If most of the big 'I am' wannabes and hard men of today were put in the same situation that many serviceman/woman has had to endure in the past they would no doubt be sqatting in a pool of their own piss sobbing!

    Sickening!

I wish it was not religious or at least embraced all believers and non-believers alike.
I am also suspicious of the motivation behind the MPs, political dignitaries and political parties who come out of the woodwork for these events. But I agree with you wholeheartedly - despite all these reservations I do believe it is important to remember.
I went to the Spanish Civil War service in the summer too. A Catalan bloke got up to speak and just burst out crying as he tried to thank the International Brigades for coming to Spain. That was moving too.
