    Crazy Bike chasing Dogs

    So I was trundling along minding my own business this morning, when for the fourth time this year I was attacked by not one but Two flea bitten, rabid, psycho dogs .

    So far I have been chased by a Lurcher in April, which managed an impressive 40mph for about a mile. A Terrier which launched itself out of a bush in the middle of know-where and actually connected with my flying boot. A Bitza mongrel thing about a month ago,

    and then this morning, which was by far the scariest so far.

    The first one jumped out from behind a gate going bonkers, which woke me up from my dawdling, then the second outflanked me and jumped over a stone wall in front and decided to face me [doing 40] down. I wouldn't have hesitated in squashing the demented creature, but thinking if I fell off in the process the second one would surely eat me I swerved and went for an inpromptu exploration of the verge/bog/field, good job I fitted them knobbly tyres last week! After performing evasive manouvres and gaining "control" of the machine I pinned the throttle to make good my escape.

    So is it just me who attracts them?

    Yes.

    Nice work keeping control and no harm comming to either yourself or the dogs

    I had something similar a while back but this heinz dog was attached to a lead, which was attaced at the other end to bicycle handlebars, pulling the owner along !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Couple near misses, and one rather notable hit. (There's a reason the dommie looks the way it does, check my signature.) Since then I'm a bit paranoid around mutts of the kamikaze persuasion...

    Its the look in their eyes, all big and boggly . They seem to want to jump into the spinning wheels.

    The owners defnately need to keep them under control and if you pass there regularly it might be worth having a word.

    The dogs were probably only playing though - it just doesnt look like it to us - some dogs more than others have a heightened hunting instinct, and although well fed and cared for, ie the dog doesnt actually need to go and catch his dinner, its an 'instinct'.

    Alpslapper is right, it's called "Prey drive". some of them can't help themselves others a just bad little Bas**rds. .

    Two options;
    1. Accelerate and get away ( safely !!).
    2. Stop bike , Chase dog. !!.

    Number 2 has worked for me as they are usually close to home and will leg it up their own path / Driveway and then you can knock on the door and tell the owner your gonna sue them ( that really puts the wind up them ). Inform the Police of the Address tho coz the owner IS liable and open to prosecution.

    Most dogs who chase are relly brave when the "Prey" ( thats you ) is running away, the minute the Prey starts to chase them thats when we find out who is brave and who is all mouth (99.9% fit into this 2nd catagory) .

    Have Fun.
