Chad we are having a bike buying day !!!

What the hell have i gone and done now

Went out on the lash last night with my mate Ian who owns a lovely RC30, he also has a very nice VFR800 which he never uses only done 14,000 miles, The VFR800 is a bike i allways wanted, but never owned i bought it for £1750 BUT i have got to do all the maintenance on the RC30 for the next year and keep it clean and ready to rock.

I think i had a good buy, So this year i started with the Varadero, Africa Twin and old Honda CB750 and at the end of the year i have the Varadero and VFR800.

    Some pics

That's a tasty bike Shep, I always rather fancied one of those myself actually. And it's in the bestest VFR colour too. Schweet!

    Robster

I had an SP1 which was apparently the replacement to the RC30 with a tuned variant of the Varadero engine, nice bike but compromised handling and also poor fuel injection low down, very jerky. Also murderous riding position.

Ian has an RC30 which i ride reguarly to be frank that is a much better bike than the SP1. He bought this VFR800 but has done 412 miles in the last year, she is a really tidy one.

I did not want a hardcore sportsbike like the SP1 again, but i love the RC30 V4 engine, so this VFR800 fits the bill very nicely.

Fuel injected 800cc V4 like a turbine, Very Comfortable, this one also has an aftermarket seat which is fantastically comfortable. Really good usable torquey power delivery, neutral sweet handling, and beautifully made. I did nearly 200 miles on Sunday, pain free !!!!

After selling the Africa i said that i would not get a second bike that promise lasted just over 1 week !!!!!

Why did you sell the @ again

"You will not get another opportunity like this again, this bike really is in collectors concours condition. The only reason it is for sale is becuase i have a Varadero and the Africa is just not being used enough"
They call him "Ze Quiet one"

You are 100% right Vader there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever, i am completely guilty as charged, all i can put it down to is that i caught the Chad bike buying disease at the National, also 6 pints + of Amstel did not help with the clarity of thought process.

Lovely bike though, turbine of an engine and best of all it has Oxford heated grips fitted. I am now getting a set of those for the varadero pronto

Very nice.I thought I had done well buying a very tidy late VFR 750 for £1850 about 18 months ago,but you look to have done a lot better I would love a go on an RC30,just for the experience even though I cannot get anywhere near what the VFR can do.I have never seen inside an RC30 but if they are anything like the VFR to work on it should not be too difficult,if a little tight for space at times.

    Trophy

The RC30 is quite easy to work on, everything comes off very quickly all held on with Dzus fasterners and a few bolts.

Ian,s RC30 has a full Termigioni Titanium race system and the full HRC carb kit (£3600 !!!!), and HRC cams . It also has Marchesini 17 inch wheels, Ohlins rear shock and Maxton revalved front forks, and harrison billet 6 piston brake calipers, basically you look at the front brake lever and you are over the handelbars.

Fantastic bike to ride, handles like it is on rails, incredibly loud and a lot of intake noise as well, also gear driven cam noise. The power delivery is very linear, it gets noticeably stronger as the revs rise. It uses a lot of oil, they all do.

Had a memorable blast last summer down to Petworth from Godalming Sunday 7am tagged onto two lads with an R1 and a GSXR1000K6, the pace was seriously hot, but the old RC30 left them for dead, effortless. You cant imagine the noise this thing makes on full chat, wake the dead

I stopped in Petworth for a coffee they came in and one stated to me that it was a pleasure to be beaten by and i quote "motorcycling aristocracy"
