    Mr Honda...Be VERY Worried!!

OK, just got back from the N.E.C Bike Show today, and here are a few thoughts.

I will definitely NOT go again. Too many people, too expensive, too bloody far, too much run-of-the-mill stuff

I thought the new Transalp, in the flesh, was even uglier than in it's pics posted here a while back. The styling and technology look compromised, crude, and already outdated. Only the order/sales books will tell the real truth.

VERY disappointed that Ducati didn't have a Desmosedici RR on show, but was pleasantly surprised by the KTM LC8.

My Adventure, Dual Sport Votes are as follows.

BMW F800GS (in orange please) = 100 points

    Yamaha Tenere (In Red/White) = 70 points

Honda Transalp (Pig ugly in whatever) = UNCLASSIFIED

i was very surprised by the new transalp, i dont mind the looks but going over the bike its a plasticky bit of rubbish. too many plastic panels, plastic belly pan, small tank, nowhere near as solid and "trust me, im a honda" feeling as the old TA its supposed to replace.

the new tenere impressed on the other hand, the standard white one at the show was nice, but there was also an overland tricked out one with ally cases, bigger screen and a big bash plate. shame about the colour though, sort of "baby vomit beige"

yukky, but id still take it over the transalp

    can't put it better myself
the new xt looks superb compared to the new transalp, yamaha obviously know what the customer want
mr honda should find out who designed it and offer him a job and sack the prat who put the new transalp in to production no offence to the ta riders because you are now in the same boat as the @ riders you've got nothing to replace your existing bikes with

there's an old saying that the customer is always right
"it would seem the people at honda have never heard of it"

although i'm a great fan of the @ i used to have an XTZ660 TENERE many years ago and i'm now very tempted to git me another
