I may be corrected here, (no doubt), but most of the village scenes were done in Pennan, near Fraserburgh, on the Moray coast. However, most of the other scenery was done either in the West/North West of Scotland, the beach was near Lochailort (Polnish, I think) and the rest (including the inn) near Loch Eilt.
My favorite movie of all time, most favorite quote......" Aren't there 2 'L's' in dollar?" and the reply "Aye and there 2 G's in bugger off!"

2008 will maybe have a summer not 6 months of rain,dont fancy 1200 mile round trip in pouring rain.

Yes.the village scenes were filmed in Pennan, unfortunately it was evacuated after a landslide a few months ago, I don't know if the villagers have been able to go back to their houses, perhaps someone that lives in the vicinity could tell us what the situation is.
Most were able to return to thier homes a coule of days later, though the last bit of news I saw was that 2 months later whilst planning how to shore up the cliff face only 3 houses hadn't been re-occupied.
