    What's wrong with Hondas ?

Just been looking at the pix from the Wales ride. Very good they are too! Looks like it was fun. However, looking at the pix, there seem to be few Hondas. If this is the HONDA XRV web site where we love all things Honda and XRX, so how come so many of the senior members have junked their Hondas in favour of BMW GSs and KTM etc ?

Nah - there was more hondas there than anything else!

the knowledge of the honda bikes is what creates the hub of this site and the willingness to all get together in the freezing cold in feb or to help someone with a tech problem or just offer friendly chatter or advice!

the bikes aren't as important as the people!

eg: Chad has a KTM (dunno if it's been mentionned!) but spent a fair bit of time fettling Hondas at the bunkhouse trying to iron out niggles!

Lord Vader had a BMW but still was good enough to strap a hoooooge honda touring screen to it to bring it up for me to purchase and not freeze to death on the way home! (cheers Pete!)

    it's all good!

That's a very good point. To answer the question though, there's nothing wrong with Hondas. So says this proud owner of an AFRICA TWIN!

There's nothing wrong with them. It's just that Honda has pulled out of this market. The New Transalp is more road-biased than ever, as is the Varadero. And there is no replacement for the Africa Twin, which ceased production several years ago. To buy new, you have to buy BMW or KTM.

Re: What's wrong with Hondas ?

A few BMW/KTM/etc. owners also own Hondas, but they might be project bikes or smaller off-road bikes, so not ideal for a long trip with luggage. (Unless you're Mudwiz, of course.)

Once Honda launch the new Africa Twin then things will be different.

Can anybody tell me what these three guys are doing to each other?

There is nothing wrong with Honda just they refuse to replace the AFRICA TWIN and there is no other bike in proportion to the CHAD.

Re: What's wrong with Hondas ?

If Honda had continued the AT and developed it to keep up with technology and legislation I'm confident it wouldn't be dissimilar to the KTM Adventure.

You only need to look at either of the CBR's to see how staggeringly sophisticated a modern Honda can be, sadly the XRV line has been discontinued and looks to remain so.

A 21st century AT would be my perfect bike but until Honda produces it I'm going to have to make do with the next best thing.
