Despacio. Hay m'as tiempo que vida
Snow riding is do-able. Long time since I last had to, was on Suzi GS550, 20 miles thru 4 - 6 inch of snow. Sanity doubts crept in on the last mile when I passed the local recovery truck parked on it's side in a ditch! Further aspersions cast by neighbours when I got home. Took about an hour to regain feeling in fingers n toes, but chuffed to bits about getting home with no drops.
Would I do it again? Only if the wife aint looking, she worries, bless her! (and with some really good thermals / heated thingies!)
I'm on the Safe House List
03 TA Blue, Givi bars, centre stand, Givi Pannier racks, heated grips, MRA Vario - smooth!
Also 4x4 with a towbar - and a trailer!

Look in the encyclopaedia under "All the gear, no idea" - you'll see this guy and all his Charley/Ewan clone mates. Snow riding isn't that difficult, take it easy, be really smoooooooooth and use a bike that's light enough to kick upright should it go all slippy sideways. Last time I HAD to do it was the winter of '83 (when I were nowt but a tadpole) - 23 mile each way commute, Scottish winter, MZ250 on 'instant death' Barum tyres - kids today don't know they're born I tell ye!
Still waiting for proper snow so I can get Miss Whiplash properly sideways, disappointed with the weather all winter, bloody global warming! Still, they're predicting some snow at the weekend and I've got the Dundee Bikers Easter Egg Run, so there's hope yet.![]()
I think I must have none of the gear and none of the idea
I thought it was very funny and I can so see me doing that
RD07a, reg in 2001, Black, heated grips, short screen, Scottoiler, Givi top box and panniers, DataTag, full Riky Cross crash bars, Baglux tank cover, Facet pump, mostly 200 miles to reserve and presently a lot happier since being loved up at Chad's hospital for sick ATs!

Riding in freshly fallen snow isn't so bad, but compacted snow - like the ground in that lane - is a different matter. You could see how difficult it was just to stand up!
I didn't like his technique for picking the bike up - risked damaging his back and that's no joke, believe me. Some discussions in this thread (half a dozen posts down) for hints on that:
Well, that was an unpleasant new experience...

I spoke to a Police Accident Investigator who told me its OK to laugh at people falling off bikes as long as they don't die. So that's my bench mark.
Good post
