    For anyone in North Wales.........

Look out for horseboxes parked at the side of the road.

    Same story in MCN -

Looks like the UK's (and Wales's in particular) favourite policeman is up to his old tricks again. Apparently, he is not of the same opinion as the Dept. of Transport -

"The Department of Transport said it recommended speed cameras were made "highly visible" to motorists."

Since when has being hidden in a horsebox been "highly visible"????

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

We're still a lot better off here than in the Netherlands... 2007 was an all-time record for head of Highway Robbery Koos Spee, with more than 12 million fines issued, netting the Dutch government over 550 million euro's...
    <rant>
They are particularly fond of hiding camera's in roadside trash cans, unmarked cards, hiding behind trees with laserguns, etc...

I have no qualms with being fined for speeding, as it's my own d**n fault, but the Dutch have turned it into an art form. Most annoying are the camera's on the quiet roads, whilst the road in my old neighbourhood, passing by a school, was rarely policed...

    Taking a deep breath now...
'07 KTM 990 Adventure (Crash Bars, Scottoilter, 16t front sprocket, Throttle Cam. Colour: Black & Grey)
    '93 DR800 BIG (Fully farkled!)

    Gone but not forgotten:
'04 Tiger (MRA-Vario screen, Crash bars, K&N Airfilter, dual headlamp upgrade. Colour: orange, 'cause I'm Dutch, innit!)
    '93 ZZR600

I'm on the Safe House List! Garage and minor toolkit available...

Yeah, well it's not the horse I would be worried about. As far as I know they haven't taught them to read, write and issue speeding notices........yet.

Re: For anyone in North Wales.........

I was "done" about 4 years ago by the Cumbria Safety Camera Partnership. I could bang on about how it was situated at the end of a crawler lane on the A66, where folk who had been held up for miles behind 40mph restricted HGvs , would try to use the 3 lane section to get ahead. But the simple fact was I was speeding , if I had not been speeding I would not have been done , no matter how unfair / unsporting / sneaky I felt it was.

My big beef with camera vans / static cameras / horsebox cameras is ...... they are called "safety" cameras , but they have booger all to do with safety. How can snapping a speeder's photo , then letting them continue to speed oblivious to the fact until the envelope drops through the door be classified as doing anything to contribute to safety.

At least in the "old days" when the copper pointed the speed gun and then had you pulled over and issued with the ticket modified speeder's behaviour - there and then - making it real a safety benefit.
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

Would totally agree with all that. It must just be cheaper to have two cops hiding in a horse box than have them driving (or God forbid) riding around being a visual deterrent and issuing on the spot b*ll*ckings and fines.

    But that's progress for you.........

Here here!!! Two weeks later you cant ever remember if you were or not!! Behaviour modification does not work in retrospection!!!

I dont mind speeding laws and even cameras, but The one thing i hate is that the limit is rarely posted here.. yes there is rules (like hard shoulder ect...) but surely a sign would help!!! and that would be a safty measure.. sometimes you find out that the limit is not what you though it was.. and you have been done and are not intending to speed ... One thing i thing Aus has right,, the limit is posted everywhere.. you have no excuse and if you get busted and it is not posted you can often fight it (with in reason.. i.e going 80 in 60km cus the ordence has changed but it was not posted..this does not work if the sign was stolen.. the cop clued in on to this quick).
