    Hey Alpslapper!!!

OK the other Sunday I meet Alpslapper the Terry Wogan of xrv.org had a wet but challenging ride out into Essex, we tried to find the Ford at the Easters but I'm glad we didn't, as I did to day and this what happened.

Having worked last night I had the day free so out on the bike was the order of the day. Rode up to the Easters and plunged into the Ford crossing. It was deeper than I remember, the water was cold as it filled my boots, came over my knees. My Alp coughed and spluttered but kept going, the back end slipping on the rocks I started thinking that I'd have to push myself out as the power dropped to nothing. But luckily I was past the deepest bit and the engine found enough revs to pull us up the slope and out into the dry. Some walkers watched so I gave them a wave like I did it all the time and rode off- but not far as I had to stop and take my wet boots off and wring out my socks. Rode some nice lanes in the Winter Sunshine with freezing cold feet! Roll on SummerA3

Would that be this one that filled my boots a while back?
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

I'm in Somerset this weekend. That ford caught me out last year on my Africa Twin. Can't find the thread but my boots were squelching for hours afterwards. See below for the last time I tried to organise an Africa Twin / Essex green lane run

    Good Stuff A3

Hope I can get out this sunday for a short blast - work is insane at the moment but I should be ok for a few hours in the morning.

I'll let you know by friday what the score is as I'll know then if I have to go in on Sunday.
