    Road racing, Northen Ireland

Whealie's thread about 'Norn Ireland' has reminded me to write this thread.

If anyone is interested in real road racing, then Northern Ireland is the place to see it. If you cannot get to see it in person then it's possible to see highlights of the racing on Free to Air television, courtesy of BBC Northen Ireland (BBC NI) in a programme called, appropriately enough, "Bikes".

If you have a satellite receiver then you will want to program it to receive Astra 2D, 10773, H, 2200 (for BBC One Northern Ireland) and Astra 2D, 10803, H, 22000 (for BBC Two NI). You will probably want to check the BBC NI web site for programme times.

Apparently, the coverage of the Northwest 200 will also be shown via the web. More can be found on their website - http://www.northwest200.org/

The road racing season will be kicking off shortly, so be prepared.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

NW200 is a mega event. A full week of events leading up to a full days racing on the saturday. Practice sessions on the tuesday & thursday evenings. But its more than just road racing plenty of things laid on for all tastes. As Whealie has just found out there are some great roads close by up the Antrim coast and also in Donegal and beyond. I live 1/2 hr from the course so if anyone is thinking of coming over and want a good ride out let me know or I can give some guidance on good roads, things to do and see etc. All hotels, B&Bs etc are booked up years in advance but there's loads of camping space around the course or if anyone needs a base for a few nights let me know and I might be able to sort something out.

Make an effort to come and see the NW200, you'll be glad you did

I'll be over for the NW200 this year, coming over on the Friday morning and staying with family in Billy nr Bushmills. going back Sunday morning. Always eat at the Lodge in Colraine as the food is really good.. I'm a big fan of the NW200.- another good event is the skerries!!! its just a shame its so sodding far from Hastings.
