I'm too far away to help ( Newry) but it sounds like the wire has been earthed between or at the neutral switch and the clutch switch. I will check the Haynes bible tonight for the correct wiring. What type of work was done on the bike?

    Hi Wee Bro,
    thanks for responding,

think your right bout the clutch switch /neutral indicator, been the one that was fried!!got hold of my Haynes now,

do you know if these can be bought sepretley!!or is it possible to rewire it straight without the connector clips/ ?

orignal presenting problem was with the starter soliniod, main fues heating up to almost meltingthen battery been flat so bump starts !
lights flickering,,and the digital trip meter not counting distanse, stuck on 0 then pierodic counting (told this could be cdi unit faulty)

I replased the main fuse connector block!part of the soliniod with second hand part (was told soliniod itself was ok)

then nothing would happen when I turn the key no lights or any thing,
did swap regulator and cdi unit from another twin and no response

replased my own and then by passed the starter/ignition by running a heavy wire from positive on battery strair=ght into the fuse box, lights all working, and press starter button and she fires up no probs,I couldnt think of anything else to donot good with electricery but this would get me to the mechanic across town ,

after he had it for 4 hours could not find the problem,he went to do what I had done to get it started and the smell of the wrong kind of burning rubber would knock ya out,

there has been recent mods to the bike by the same bloke,HID Light's and halfords spot lights but they hadnt given any bother, theres also heated grips fitted the last 2 years,
I hav been recomended to take it to a guy on the southside of the city (SCOOTS BIKES)so will get carol nash insurance to bring it for me,

I hope its not as bad as I think
just getting ready for a scoot up your neck of the woods http://northwestbikers4kids.com/ and then for the road raceing up your way and THE LONGEST DAY after that, hopefully Ill get it sorted and might meet up with yis soon,

    Thanks

    Tony K
