Questions for a motorcycle insuranc e broker

I spoke to the owner of a specialist motorcycle insurance broker today and she has lined up someone for me to speak to for the site on Monday.
    So suggest your questions please.

Any questions you might have about cover
We all tinker with our bikes so what is an accessory and what is a modification (and are they covered)
    European breakdown cover?
What cover exists within the EU and what about beyond the EU?
    Riding in Africa?
    Xander has mentioned agreed values.
Buying back write-offs and getting the rebuilt project insured again.
Travel insurance that covers riding a bike.
Cover for greenlaning and more extreme off-roading?

These are some of the areas I was thinking about.
It is a small but specialist broker, winning lots of business through price comparison websites not advertising its own name. it is called H&R insurance.

Re: Questions for a motorcycle insuranc e broker

Xander's and everyone elese's questions, plus

why can't I insure a bike not registered in my name, eg in my son's name?

Insurance in garage at home at night - ebike say something stupid like not insured for theft within 1/2 mile of home after 10.00pm if not in the garage!!! why?. For my son on his moped I suspect most evenings his bike's not insured for theft as he is mostly at friends houses or just zooming about town and doing what 16year olds do.

if I say I have got xyz security device, what happens if bike is stolen and its not fitted, eg I have popped into a shop and its too much of a faff to put the lock on, or I don't use it in the garage coz my sons need to move bike around or whatever?

What happens if I say there is no additional security

How much discount do I actually get for a security device.

How much reduction in premium per £x of voluntary excess should I expect.

I want the same cover in any country I say I am visiting - don't see why it is more of a risk when I am riding in Morocco or Turkey or USA or wherever than riding in UK and Europe. In fact its probably less risk coz I will be being double careful with bike security and riding style.

Rider policies - what happened to them? I think its only so the police number plate recognition system can determine if a bike is insured, not if a rider is insured - and see question about insuring bikes not in your name, probably answered that one as well.

mods vs accessories vs performance upgrades. What's the difference, how do we know what to report and when.

umm, I have probably got loads more but need to think a bit.....
2001 Transalp XLV650. Faithful old friend still chugging away nearly 100,00miles
2007 Varadero XLV1000. Now you're torquing but sadly gone to another forum member. One of the best bikes - period.
Yamaha XT660r - slowly getting it ready for some big adventures

All good questions but let's start to be specific on this one. I asked my insurer this week about changing the sprockets and was told it would make no difference. This is despite it potentially increasing the top speed.
Exhausts, and air filters do not change things, so what does? Make some specific suggestions people. What have you done to your bike or would you consider doing? Why does adding crash bars not reduce the premium on a fully comp policy?

I've always wondered but never got around to asking about luggage.

Too much can make it handle like a pig! Or is it just me

Also, screens, my winter screen is massive but black. Can't see the immediate road/kerb through it.
