Re: What makes a good campsite?
What makes a good campsite is like asking what makes a good meal. The circumstances and whoa you are with and the time of year can all make a difference. Just like sometimes a bag of chips eaten with fingers out of the paper can be the best meal for that moment - romantic even, sometimes a gnarly little campsite with bugger all facilities but allowing open fires can be perfect.
With family you need other things nearby that they can do to occupy themselves, such as rivers or the sea, or play areas, or parks, or swimming pools or whatever.
If you have cycled or walked there then a shop - and a pub - nearby or on site can be important.
