whys the rum always gone?
every now and then hunker down and have a little study of your tyres ..look closely and you will see little stone chips in the rubber.
now take a pair of tweezers and extract those chips ...some will be very small.
others will be somewhat bigger. today i did this and pulled three slivers of flint out of my rear tyre two were about 10mm long
as the tyre wears these would be pushed in until the inevitable puncture
i hope this saves some of you from the above

Last week I had a puncture in the front tyre of the Focus and it was a red granite chip ( the kind used to decorate driveways) forced right through the tread area of the tyre !!! had to write off two front tyres as the hole was too big to plug and I always like to replace tyre in pairs , especially car fronts !!!!
The big problem here with my bike tyres is seashells, mussles to be exact, the gulls pick them off the shore at low tide and fly high and drop them on the road to break them. Little slivers of shell go into the tyres edgeways on , I pull them out with pliers , some are alarmingly big !!!

Did a run with a mate on his GS 1200 last year, on the straights he managed to 'pin' 12 chickens in 690kms, don't know about his tyres, but his radiator was pretty well "chook a block"........I'll get my hat and coat......

They can be a bit on the slippery side the first day huhwhite road marks wet road... sphincter pucker time....
