Re: You have GOT to be kidding me
that wouldn't work. Its someone playing with your head. Think BMW boxer engine. Are the two cylinders in line? No. Why not? To fit in the two con rods on the crank, so for this you would need 8 and therefore the 8 cylinders all in different positions.
If i am wrong them someone please tell me cause i know i don't know much about engines but this makes sense to me. If i am right then i'm sorry to burst your bubble guys. |

Re: You have GOT to be kidding me
You're wrong
You can have a central single big end that rotates to a single offset on the crank, all the radials attach to it. The hardest thing about a radial is ignition timing so that each one pushes at the right time. ![]() Kymmy

Re: You have GOT to be kidding me
Old world war one aircraft engines used rotary radials.
Look at the focker triple engined plane of the 1940's.

Re: You have GOT to be kidding me
Radial engines are still used today in a variety of planes and other applications that need a lot of torque in a compact size.
Remember this?? Just look at the rotec site to see what I mean Kymmy

Re: You have GOT to be kidding me
Kymmy, sweetie, it's bad enough that you make me feel hoplessly inadequate with your IT skills now cut it out with all that stuff about engines
