    Mobile Speed Camera North Wales

On thursday coming home from work in the car I spotted a BMW GS1200 parked on the verge on the B5111 at Rhosmeirch on Anglesey, as I got closer I realised it was a speed camera. Bike was unmarked apart from a small sign on the windshield, rider had a hiviz on and was stood next to bike operating camera on a tripod. Sorry didn't have a camera with me. You have been warned they are everywhere.

Nice one Ratcatcher, it's nice to keep up to date on the methods used to catch serious criminals such as us bikers doing 70 in a 60 zone

Now if they could disguise themselves as a bush and take pictures as someone burgled a house as to prosecute them i would be impressed

seeing as they have nothing better to do perhaps they could send them to london to help sort knife crime. .....or perhaps not as that involves them growing a backbone and it wont make them any money or bump up their ppi's. ****ers the lot of them.......

Derbyshire Police on the A515 (Sudbury to Buxton) especially in the Tissington/Fenny Bentley area, have been seen using a tall scruffy blue Vauxhall van with a clean back window checking vehicles. They also have a 'hippy van' with tow-bar as well, also blue. This road is now 50/40mph all the way. What next? Electronic stray sheep parked up in a lay-by!

Re: Mobile Speed Camera North Wales

Don't get me wrong, I actually APPROVE of speed cameras so long as they are positioned in areas that will improve safety. I live 1 house away from a primary school, the speed limit is 30mph (should be 20 in my opinion) and cars fly up and down here and sometimes they are doing 50-60 mph and if they hit a kid there toast I’m afraid so a camera on my road would be of great help. A camera on a long stretch of road that’s in the middle of the Scottish highlands where there’s no kids/pedestrians for god knows how many miles is just a money making scheme knowing it’s quite easy to slip past the enforced 60mph limit.

A camera in my street or any street with a school etc… is never going to happen because it simply won’t make enough money, only last week a 12 year old boy not 10 miles from me was killed on his way home from school, on a road that local residents had campaigned for years to get better speed measures installed, had a camera been installed would he still be alive today? I honestly don’t know but his parents have sure got a long time to think it over haven’t they.

Money grabbing bastards is all these speed traps are, bollox to em all..

    Rant over

Re: Mobile Speed Camera North Wales

It is a well known fact that some Chief Constables of Police, one in particular are anti bikes. I do continue to think that its "heads down arse up" sports types who go everywhere at a zillion miles per hours who are the main reason for this hatred.
However, the cameras are local council controlled and run and whilst they are known to produce good revenue I think the diversity in how to disguise them will continue. Robot sheep to leave in laybys with a camera installed unfortunately are probably already at prototype stages!!!
With regard to traffic calming measures and speeds limits around schools I am in total agreement. This is not being properly addressed in the majority of cases and needs to be. Also perhaps children need to have some sort of safety awareness input, not for themselves but to impart to their parents!!! It never ceases to amaze me the poor driving skills of people who are just about to/ or have just dropped off their precious little bundles!!! We all know that life is not easy for working parents and necessary due to high living costs but those extra few minutes slowing down and being more aware in school areas really shouldn't make a difference to their day.
Back on topic, I know that car drivers feel exactly the same about "safety cameras" and their positioning.
Criminals drive cars without insurance on fake plates and drive pool cars which have no registered keepers, they will continue to break the law whenever and however they feel. Its responsible people who mot, tax and insure their cars who are tracable easy targets if they have a momentary lapse in concentration or are out of thier own area and unfamiliar with the speed limits where they are.
Last note, I don't think speed limits are always properly and fairly advertised at the point where they change? Been looking around my area and I can point to 2 or 3 areas which would catch out non local people.
