    Wales & Angelesey Bike Shows

This is just for everyones information, and particularly for anyone looking for a Bike Show to attend, especially if Wales is on your doorstep.

I received this email via HC Travel who are a well known UK Biking Travel Agent, and thought you lot might be interested.

I've no affiliations, to HC Travel.

    Pasted Below...

    Hi

Normally I don’t like to flood our customers with a constant stream of information, but this email is a little different – it is probably the only time you will hear from me selling something from someone else!

As you will probably be aware, the Welsh National Bike Show in May 2008 was cancelled at the last minute. Steve Bennett, who runs the show, stands to lose about £80,000 (and possibly his house) as a result of this unilateral action, disappointingly ‘encouraged’ by the Police on the grounds of apparent imminent warfare between rival bike gangs (Marlon Brando where are you?!) and the consequent serious risk of injury to anyone attending the show. There has never been any trouble of any description at previous shows, there are no gangs in Wales, no gangs have ever attended the show before, and there is no known evidence showing that they planned to do so.

We have worked with Steve over the past three years offering one of our bike holidays as a raffle prize at the show. He is a genuine, hard-working biker who runs these shows with a passion, and he doesn’t deserve this. We need people like Steve and organising shows is a thankless task. Motorcycling in the UK will be worse off without his efforts and his shows.

Steve also organises the Anglesey Show, which takes place this August Bank Holiday, 22 - 25 August. He has, for obvious reasons, not been able to promote this as he would like, but it is desperately important that the show is a great success, for him personally, and for the future of both shows (apparently there is no such ‘gang threat’ in this part of Wales – maybe its the language barrier in North Wales or the fear of crossing the Menai Straits - and the show is going ahead!). I have a bit of a soft spot for Angelesey as well as it is where I learned to ride a bike many years ago.

My small contribution is to spread the word to our customers, hence this email.

So, if you want a great weekend and want to help keep our summer bike shows – this could well be the thin end of the wedge – please support Steve and enjoy a bit of Anglesey hospitality and sunshine.

If you are unable to attend, but would like to contribute to Steve’s legal ‘fighting fund’ you can do so here:

    Thank you for your support!

PS. You won't hear from me again for a while, promise!

Thanks Bob, I don't think I've got anything planned that weekend either. I may convince J to take my for a trip to North Wales
