Impressions of Dartmoor and the Plume

last weekend was my first visit to the place.

It's really lovely if it's nice if the weather's not nice it's bloody horrible.

There's a blanket 40mph speed limit across the moor, that's if you can see that far.

The Plume is a pleasant pub. Cracking beer, the foods ok but not particularly cheap budget £10 for an evening meal.A full English costs £5.50 tea and orange juice extra.
The bunkhouses are clean but small and you need to take a sleeping bag, pillow and towel. There are no power points to charge phones etc.in the bunkhouse rooms.

The camp site is a tidy size with good toilets and showers. If you're camping take the high ground. In wet weather the lower part of the field can get boggy.

    Hope this helps somebody

My memory of the place is better than that though not disputing the accuracy. I just have a more positive outlook.

I will be camping and, in the main, cooking my own meals, although the Plume's food would tempt me. As a vegetarian, the selection there (and the breakfast) was much better than most places, which is why I generally cook for myself.
