Bike Insurance, who with and how much?

I renewed my bike insurance today with Bennetts. They sent me the usual reminder about two weeks ago and I hadn't even looked at it. I opened it while having lunch today and thought whilst I am sat sitting I should give them a ring and renew. On the reminder I was quoted £346.88, this includes Bike Guard plus cover, Legal expenses cover and Personal accident cover. So with a chicken and sweetcorn and mayonnaise baguette in one hand and the phone in the other, I set about renewing............................
After speaking to lovely Tricia this is what I ended up with
    Fully comprehensive,
    Bike Guard plus,
    Legal expenses,
    Personal accident cover,
Helmet and Leathers cover ( textiles in my case)
    All for £240.33
So why was I quoted £346.88 just to renew my existing policy when this policy is a new one???????
    Bennetts couldn't answer me
    Perhaps some of you can
    Greg

That sounds like a good enough deal, wish I could say the same for mine.

£428 for third party only. Apparently doing only 1000 miles a year.

    the mysteries of insurance companies
had a customer ring his insurers for a quote on a new bike from the shop
when he had agreed to buy the bike he rang them back to take the quote and was given a cheaper price
20 minutes passed between the two calls
    mad...

I get under £100 premiums with my GPz900R from Bennetts...

Totally to do with age......Not mine but the fact that the bikes counted as a classic

Being an old fart (officially now) I just insured my 950 Adventure for £125 fully comp with my NCB protected.

    That was with Motorcycle Direct

Re: Bike Insurance, who with and how much?

I suppose it has a lot to do with the following factors
    Age- 41
    Value - £4999
Mileage per annum - 4k or below
    Where stored
    Security features
    Job - Don't work
Limitations of use - I'm a stay at home dad, so no commute mileage
Type of policy - Fully comprehensive
Licence held for - 9 years
No claims bonus - 3 years on current bike
    9 years in total
    Protected - no
I look forward to growing old gracefully and enjoying the benefits............
Incontinence, misplacing my teeth, losing my hair, bus pass ( not if I still have the bike ), being able to fart in public. I do that now mind but the looks you get??????? I just say " What????? I'm pregnant, I'm allowed"
