Where to go for next weekend (7 - 10)?

It's a long story... I was meant to be going to Barcelona next week on business and SWMBO was joining me on the Friday for a long weekend.
It's all fallen through but we're looking to still go away for the weekend (7-10 Nov), but it's difficult deciding what to do.

So can anyone help us with suggestions?

We want to fly from Bristol, Cardiff or Exeter.
We want to go from Friday to Monday, although I could stretch to Thursday as well.
We're looking for personal recommendations if anyone has any of cities, and hotels stayed in, packages that people have done, etc...
We don't want to fly too far, i.e 3 hour is about max.
We're open to a cold climate (quite fancy somewhere snowy) or equally a warmer one.

So what ideas do you have?

Amsterdam - can recommend the Krasnaplosky Hotel - lots to see aside from the obvious...........

Geneva - can recommend the Hotel De La Paix - beautiful city, and if you hire a car for the day, you can go through the Mont Blanc tunnel, pop into Italy - see lots of snow and come back via Chamonix and the northern side of Lac Leman

Venice - recommend the Al Ponte Mocenigo (fabulous place )- needs no introduction - go there, enjoy - then come home

Pisa - aside from the Tower, Cathedral and Battistero, there's not much there - but Florence is only a couple of hours away by train - so fly in, jump on the train to Florence - stay at the Hotel Rosary Garden - enjoy the architecture, food, cathedral, sculpture and galleries - then on your return trip to Pisa, do the Tower etc, before you fly home.

Madrid - try the Best Western Atlantico - the Royal Palace is awesome - and the armoury is amazing - and of course if you're interested you can go and pay homage at the Bernabéu

Paris - again needs no introductions - but I can recommend the Plaza Tour Eiffel as a great place to stay

Milan - if it had been next week we could have met you for coffee and the International Bike Show - ho hum - have stayed at the Hotel Spadari before and can recommend it.

Prague - this is a really cool hotel - Hotel Sax - and by the time you get to Prague, the Christmas Markets will be there - beautiful city, and plenty to see.

Wherever you go, it's a change of scenery and you'll enjoy it

Just back from Brussels. Loads to see and do, plus it is all walkable (well I got the tube to the Atomium). I stayed at a mate's flat but there are loads of hotels.

Day trip to Bruge (an hour by train).

Museums, galleries, churches and, of course, bars. Take your winter clothes though. It is getting nippy.

It cost me £200 return for four of us on the Eurostar (cost £25 return from my house to Kings Cross) Takes about two hours currently (train running slower since the fire).

Go to Barcelona anyway. Hotel Rivoli Ramblas used to do some god deals at weekends. and you are right there in the thick of it then.

If you go to Budapest (which is very nice).
DO NOT go in the titty bars.

    A) Your Mrs wouldn't like it
    B) You'll get seriously ripped off (so a bloke told me)
