Used to see a lot of pheasant damage with cars at one of my previous jobs.. Totally destroys the front grill/rad at 150MPH so can imagine what damage it'd do to a thin piece of polycarbonate....

You need to read the comments, if you want to get annoyed about insensitivity.
I hadn't noticed the comments
the article was about loss of life and shouldn't be open for complete knobs to vent their opinions.
What a horrible fate. Condolences to the family. I was once hit by a pigeon that flew into my helmet at a mere 20mph; the force of the impact almost knocked me out despite the lid.
I had one fly into the front of a Mk2 Transit some years back, I was only doing about 30MPH down a small country lane in north Devon. There was a huge bang and the front of my Transit was buggered! grill, rad, inner panel, I was pulling feathers and gore out of the engine bay for ages. The worst bit was, the bugger had no insurance so I had to pay for the parts myself. Seriously tho, I could not believe the amount of dammage for such a low speed impact, those old Transits were pretty tough old vans, not all plastic like the new ones, at 70MPH hitting his helmet, it must have been like a flying brick poor guy, I realy feel for his family and they certainly don't need stupid thoughtless comments about his speed or the "poor bird" right now.
