    Air ambulance

I'm sure you guys know that Ireland is in the process of getting two air ambulances. From what i have heard they have the money to get them but are looking at around £1.5m a year to keep them going. Their aim now is to raise enough money that they can work of the interest, just like the life boats do. However they are not looking government funding as then they would have control over them and politics would come into play as to what hospital people are taken to etc.

A guy i work with is planning on trying to raise £250,000 by spring/summer of next year through different events. One is to organise a 1000 bike ride. If he can get all of the riders to raise £100 each then thats £100,000. If any of you are interested in getting involved i will post up any information as this progresses.

I know you guys did the longest day this year and did a brilliant job and if i am right, next years will include Ireland. I don't want these things to hinder each other in anyway. Just want people to know so that they can join in if it suits.

    Simon

Why no ask your mate to contact Chris McGaffin, he runs Ironbutt Ireland.

I'm sure this something he would love to help with (really nice fella too).

I've just posted a thread about the "Circuit of Ireland" that may be of use to you..

Sorry just reread this, you mean 1000 bikes on a ride. .

Sounds good and for a good cause too.

Thanks guys. I think the idea would be to start trying to get sponsorship from end of this month and then do the ride spring/summer next year.
